Laneville ISD has chosen the Texas Health Skills for Middle School by Goodheart-Willcox Publisher as their health curriculum resource. The curriculum encourages students to make health decisions about mental health, medications, drugs, and sexual health. Texas Health Skills for Middle School supports House Bill 1525 and Senate Bill 9 by separating human sexuality information from other health topics and follows all the TEKS needed for teaching curriculum, as recommended by the State Board of Education.
The separate portion of instruction will be taught only to students after a parent or guardian signs the "opt-in" consent form. We are also providing a viewing of the health curriculum for the 4th-5th grades approved by the Laneville ISD School Board.
